For anyone that knows Court, even just a little, knows she has many embarrassing moments. Well, it only took a week and she now had two to share! I told her I had to share the sock story. :)
Last Wednesday she and her companion, Sister Andrus, ate with a family who's home had tile flooring. They noticed Courtney was the only one without socks so they offered her a pair. She declined but the husband asked for his wife to get a pair anyways. Courtney did not hear this so when the wife came to give her a pair of socks, Court smiled and thanked her as she put the socks next to her coat. Later that evening after they left, (socks in hand) Court's companion turned to her and said, "Sister, I think they meant for you to wear the socks while you were there." Courtney was very embarrassed and was set on returning the socks the next day. Little did she know that the opportunity would happen sooner that she thought.
Later that evening, the missionaries in the area went caroling to new members and investigating families. At the end someone suggested going to the Taylor's. This is were Court came from and tried to persuade them to go some place else. She had to confess and they still went. When they finished caroling Courtney looked up to see them smiling at her. She immediately apologized and promised to return them. His response, "Well, I would invite you in to sit down but I'm afraid you might walk off with the couch!" Everyone had a good laugh and I'm sure Courtney's face was red again!
She did return the socks and they presented her with a gift...a pair of pink socks!
Courtney loves Colorado and has quickly grown attach to many families. They feed the missionaries very well, and are supportive in missionary work. She also loves her companion, Sister Andres who is a petite Hawaiian. She is staying in couple's home and says they are wonderful too! The only complaint I heard was due to the lack of snow! She wants snow.
We just received a few emails today so I again, pasted some parts I thought would be nice to share. Thanks for following along and thanks for you support to Courtney. She loves the mail. :)
We will be spending New Eve night with the Masterson Family. They are having a bon fire and invited a lot of people. We were told today we can only go if we have investigators going. So we found some! But we can only stay 45 mins. Then we have to be in by 7:30 pm which I thought was kind of late. On New Years day we are playing volleyball and basketball with a bunch of recent converts and investigators then spending the rest of the day with the Palmers. I love that family so much! I will have to send you pics of them. Then we will visit two other recent convert families. Marice and Juan H. and Heidi M. Pray for Heidi!
Yes, I love the people. Everyday I grow to love them more. When I have time to write again I want to write you about some families I have met and experiences I have had.
I will also write a letter of an experience I had this week, I told this part member family about your story of following the prophet's counsel. Anyway, it made me cry. I love that family so much!
Still surviving in Colorado and loving it,
Sister Bigelow

Courtney's Call & New Address Update
Courtney called from the airport today! It was so nice to hear her voice. If I hadn't been looking at the clock I would have guessed the 49 minute conversation was only 5 minutes. Time flew by too fast but we're very grateful for the opportunity!
Most of the phone call was recapping in more detail about what has been written in the letters. Courtney also talked about the new curriculum in the MTC. Her district was in between the old and new curriculum. Their teacher had to be gone more than the others so they ended up with six different subs. She named several leaders who came to visit and especially commented on Elder Holland's visit. Her time there was positive and enjoyed it but is looking forward to Colorado.
As of late this morning, Courtney arrived in Colorado with 15 elders and another sister. Her first assignment is in Montrose and will be living in a members' home. It is in the western part of her area. Her address:
Sister Courtney Bigelow
c/0 Crane Family
61640 Highway 90
Montrose, CO 81403
Courtney passed on her thanks for all the letters and treats you have sent to her. She can't express enough how much they are appreciated!
We received another letter and wanted to post some of it. She also talked about it during the phone call because it meant a lot to her.
"It is really awesome going to the temple once a week. I am going to miss it. I love walking out of the temple spiritually charged. I try to gain new knowledge each time I go."
"I keep thinking how lucky I am to be here in the MTC and about to go out into the field. I am learning so much about Christ's Church. The Spirit here is really powerful too."
"Today I went to the RC (Referral Center) where missionaries get the chance to call or chat with people all across America and Canada. Most of the calls we make come from people ordering the Bible, Book of Mormon, or a free DVD. Anyway, we call to confirm they received whatever they ordered/asked for.Well, today I made a phone call to a lady in Canada. She had ordered the Bible and received it. Then I asked her is she would be interested in receiving a free DVD on Heavenly Father's Plan. She said she would like to learn more after I told her what the movie was about. I then asked if the missionaries could deliver the DVD. She again said yes and wanted a Bible for her son as well. After confirming her address a man got on the phone asking if he could receive a free Bible too. I was so excited! I got his address and we talked for a little bit. It totally made my day. I love being a missionary in the RC. I have had many good experiences there."
More to come.........

Heading to Colorado!
The day has finally arrived! Courtney is departing the MTC on the 16th and is looking forward to serving for the next 17 months in Colorado. (Freezing temperatures, snow, and all!)
Until she gets in the routine of sending a general letter for me to post, (which is soon I hope), I'm again going to cut and paste parts of her letters she has sent to her sister as well as her parents. Thanks for following along!
Dec. 2
The Elders here are amazing. They have such a high respect for the sister. Most elders hold open doors, give up their seats, and even take your tray when you are done eating. I love it because then I truly feel like a daughter of God!
It is cold here and I like it. There is no snow on the ground. :( It snowed once while our whole district walked up to the temple. It was so beautiful! The snow didn't stay, bummer.
(This next part is Court's response to a situation someone was going through.)
If you're struggling with patience then pray for help. I know He listens because I have prayed so many times here in the MTC and He has always answered my prayers. (She then goes on to talk about Alma 7:23) I hard this little saying about patience, "use it before you lose it."
Dec. 7
It snowed yesterday and today. I love it! But the heater in my dorm is broken so it's so cold inside as it is outside. There is also a bad draft from our window which I sleep by. I have a cold and my companion is sick too.
(Courtney continues about her two companions and some of the health issues they are having. She has been helping them.)
I am learning so much from my companions. I am not complaining because through the service I give them we grow together closer. I guess you could say I am grateful for the opportunity.
Can you believe that in a week I will be in Colorado teaching? I am so excited for many reasons.
*Courtney is able to call home while at the airport so we hopefull have more to share. I'll post her new address when I receive it.

Courtney's 2nd Email
Sorry, the posting from Courtney below is a little chopped up because I had to cut and past her letter. There were things that would embarrass her if she knew I was posting and other things she was needing me to send. I'm hoping to have her write or email a general letter to everyone so it would be easier for me to post and more interesting for you to read. Thanks for checking in and for your letters to Courtney!
I will try to write you later of my many experiences here in the MTC. The Holy Ghost has brought many blessing to me while I have been here. The Spirit is so strong here!
Colorado! I am leaving the MTC Dec. 16th. I am told I can call from the airport in Salt Lake City. I don't know what time my flight leaves but usually its like 4 am. Do you still want me to call? They kept us here for 4 weeks instead of three because of Thanksgiving and transfers in Colorado. I am so grateful for the extra week. I count it as a blessing.
I will take more pictures here at the MTC and send them home before I leave the MTC.
The food is okay. I haven't gained weight but I haven't lost weight.
Please post my address for the MTC on Facebook so my friends can see it.
I am the coordinating sister. I have to watch over all the sisters in my zone. I love serving them and I always have meetings that my companions have to follow me.
I love you dearly. You're in my prayers. I am going to the temple today!
